Gonçalo IvoArtist, Architect and Writer
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1958, Gonçalo Ivo is an artist, architect and a writer. He studied under many important artists of the modernist movement. His first solo exhibition was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro in 1980, followed by many other solo and group shows in Brazil and all over the world, such as the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas, the Jan Van der Togt Museum in Holland, the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, and the Pinacoteca of São Paulo. There are many books published about his work, written by the most relevant critics, writers, poets, philosophers and painters in Brazil, Europe and the USA. Gonçalo currently lives and works between Paris, Madrid, and the mountains of Teresópolis in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
